Detox Connection between 911 Rescue Workers and Meth Cops

Detox Connection between 911 Rescue Workers and Meth Cops; Gerald Ross MD, Medical Director of the UTAH METHCOPS PROJECT featured speaker at 51st ICIM Congress Oct 2-4, Grand Rapids, MI

The International College of Integrative Medicine (www.icimed.com) invites you to our CME meeting “Detoxification” in Grand Rapids, MI October 2-4, 2009.

Gerald Ross will be providing a presentation on the Utach Methcops Project (http://www.utah-detox.org/), of which he is the Medical Director.

Utah is the only place in the USA where this treatment for meth-exposed police officers is underway, and is modeled after the New York City World Trade Center rescue workers treatment project. That project has treated about 1000 people, including police, firefighters, EMTs, ironworkers and many others who had extensive exposure to the gray-white dust that permeated the 'Ground Zero area and surroundings. Many people do not know that the fire under the pile of rubble there, burned for almost three months, and the whole saga has been called the most complex environmental disaster/exposure in history.

In Utah, the Methcops Project has now treated about 56 or 56 officers whose health deteriorated after they had been involved in raiding 'meth labs' in the course of their work, especially those in the early days of such operations, who had no (or rather limited) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Why Come to the “Detoxification” conference? 1) We are all exposed to toxins 2) Toxins have negative health effects - always. 3) Getting rid of toxins prevents diseases and treats patients from a curative position.

ICIM Grand Rapids will also feature "Advanced Course in Metal Toxicity: The Impact on Human Health; Remedies and Rationale. The Use by Terrorists of Compounds with Chelation Remedies" with Saran Flora MD of India, Solomon Chiou MD of Taiwan, and George Kontoghiorghes PhD of Cyprus, and our staff training "A Primer Of Natural Therapeutics: An Introduction To Certification In Dietary Supplement Counseling," understanding the range and properties of herbals, botanicals and nutrients. CEUs available. www.integrativemedicineconference.com.

Tom Malterre CN Lecture: “How common foods and herbs guide us through a toxic world”

The International College of Integrative Medicine (www.icimed.com) invites you to our CME meeting “Detoxification” in Grand Rapids, MI October 2-4, 2009. Why Come? 1) We are all exposed to toxins 2) Toxins have negative health effects - always. 3) Getting rid of toxins prevents diseases and treats patients from a curative position.

ICIM is pleased to showcase one of our favorite speakers Tom Malterre MS, CN in this exploration of detox therapies. Tom is an energetic and dynamic speaker who has impressed us with rigorous and detailed scientific backing of his work.

Food is full of signaling molecules that alter human genetics. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the food we eat helps us process the potentially toxic chemicals that we might come in contact with on a daily basis. Malterre’s presentation “How common foods and herbs guide us through a toxic world” will discuss the genius of nature and how it alters detoxification through our daily diets. Emphasis will be placed on vegetables (cruciferous and others), fruits, turmeric (curcumin), green tea, and milk thistle (silymirin).
The ICIM conference also features our metals workshop "Advanced Course in Metal Toxicity: The Impact on Human Health; Remedies and Rationale.
